Photo-etched fenders with the relief of Zimmerit for the heavy tank destroyer Jagdtiger in 1:35 scale replace thick plastic parts with thin metal. Intended for the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement fenders made of photo-etched sheet, on the surface of which the characteristic ridged pattern of the protective coating is worked out. The metal has a thickness that injection-molded plastic will not come near, and on top of that it can be bent, dented or partly torn away. Damaged fenders are precisely among the most telling signs of a vehicle that has the front behind it. The target kit is Dragon.
The Jagdtiger was an enclosed tank destroyer built on the lengthened chassis of a heavy tank and carried an exceptionally powerful gun of large caliber. In its weight class it had no competition, but the weight took its mobility away and drove its fuel consumption up to an unbearable level. Only a few dozen were built, and they saw action in the last months of the war in Western Europe, with a considerable part of them lost to breakdowns and a shortage of fuel.
Cut the original plastic fenders off along the root and level the area. Bend the photo-etched part slowly over a sharp edge, so that the relief does not flatten. Create the deformations with a blunt tool on a soft surface and suggest a tear with fine scissors. Before painting, wash the metal and use a base intended for metal, otherwise the layer cracks. The pattern will then stand out with drybrushing in a lighter shade.
