The Bronco Seehund of type XXVIIB is a plastic kit of the German midget submarine in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German midget submarine Seehund of type XXVIIB in 1:35 scale from Bronco. Because the vessel itself is very small, 1:35 scale gives a sizeable model with a great deal of detail. The kit covers the form designated B5.
The Seehund was the smallest combat submarine of the Kriegsmarine, worked by just two men. It came about at the end of the war as a weapon for fighting in the narrow coastal zone: it carried two torpedoes slung along the sides of the hull, it had no other armament and it relied entirely on its tiny size. That was exactly what made it a target hard to detect, but the crew had extremely hard conditions in the minute space. The vessels were used in the North Sea and in the Channel against Allied convoys.
In 1:35 scale every detail of a vessel this small is visible, so it pays to paint the interior if it is in the box. The hull is smooth and its lengthwise seam has to be filled and sanded down carefully; after filling, spray the surface with a filler primer. Do not paint the dark hull in pure black; a very dark gray suits it. Marine growth, rust and worn paint around the hatch will give the vessel some age. Paint the torpedoes separately and fit them at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a stand and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
