Airfield parking apron base in 1:72 scale

This is a scenic base, not a model. The set contains heavy A4 sheets with a printed airfield parking apron, that is concrete slabs with expansion joints, stains and wear. The print resolution is high, so the texture of the concrete does not get lost even at close range. It is the simplest way to put an aircraft model into a setting: nothing is built and nothing is painted, the sheets are simply laid down and trimmed to size if needed. The real subject is an air base in Southeast Asia, the setting associated with the use of American air power in the 1960s and 1970s.

Use

• Lay the sheets on a flat, firm board; the slightest unevenness underneath shows.
• Run the joins between sheets along an expansion joint, where the transition is least noticeable.
• Back the edges with double-sided tape; paper laid loose will curl.
• The finished surface can be toned with pigment and marks from tire rubber can be added.
• Do not fix the model to the surface permanently, so that it can be lifted off at any time.

Who it is for

The base suits aircraft modelers who want to photograph or display a finished model in a setting and at the same time do not want to build a whole diorama. It will also serve as a background for photography, because the surface gives the model a sense of scale and removes an empty background.

It is not a model. The aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
