First to Fight 1:72 – CKM wz.30 with a dismounted cavalry crew is a set of Polish figures with a heavy machine gun for the year 1939.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of figures of a Polish machine gun crew from the cavalry units, in 1:72 scale, together with the wz.30 heavy machine gun itself on its tripod. The Polish brand First to Fight deals exclusively with the equipment and gear of the Polish army of 1939 and adds a printed booklet about the particular pattern of weapon to its sets. According to a review the package contains six figures in six poses, arranged into machine gun crews.
The wz.30 machine gun was a Polish heavy machine gun, an improved copy of the American Browning M1917 design, water-cooled and firing from a tripod. In the cavalry units the machine gun squadron was a separate part of the regiment, and in action the crew dismounted and carried the weapon broken down into sections. That is exactly why the set shows the figures both carrying the machine gun and in firing positions lying down and seated. For the Polish army of 1939 the wz.30 was the main support of infantry and cavalry fire alike.
Build the small figures one at a time, while they are still on the sprue, and paint them from the uniform outwards to the gear. The Polish uniform of 1939 has a gray-green shade, and the cavalry items differ in cut, not in color. Leave the machine gun darker than the figures and pick out the water cooling jacket with a slight sheen. In 1:72 scale a base tone, one shadow and one highlight will do; fine detail does not read. Glue the tripod on only after painting, as you will reach all the surfaces better.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
