This is a resin detail part, not a standalone model. It replaces the engine cowling on the plastic F6F-3 Hellcat kit from Hasegawa in 1:48 scale. This variant represents the early cowling with closed cooling flaps (cowl flaps), typical of a parked aircraft with the engine shut down. You have to own the base kit; the part does not make an aircraft on its own.
The casting captures a more accurate shape of the front cowling and the closed flaps than injected plastic offers, and it corrects the usual weak spot in the shape of the chin of the cowling. If you want the late cowling with open flaps for the Hobby Boss kit instead, reach for the sister variant late / open flaps — that is a different kit and a different state of the flaps, so take care not to mix them up.
Separate the part carefully from the casting block (cut it, do not snap it), clean it up and wash the mold release agent off. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) — cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Try the part dry before bonding and fit it to the fuselage if needed. Paint only after a coat of primer.
