One hundred individual grass tufts from the German maker HEKI, five to six millimeters tall, in autumn coloring. Autumn grass is yellow-brown and dry, so on a model it establishes the season just as reliably as colored tree crowns do. That is exactly why it can be used in two ways: either the whole area is recolored into autumn with it, or just a few pieces serve as dry patches in an otherwise green meadow.

How to work with the tufts

The tufts are not self-adhesive; they are fixed with modeling glue, ideally a flock adhesive or PVA glue. Apply a drop of glue to the base and seat the tuft in it with tweezers. Arrange them irregularly and in clusters. When you only want to suggest dry patches, put the tufts where water would not hold, that is, on ridges and at the edges of paved surfaces. Leave the grass green in the hollows, as this difference will help the scene a great deal.
