This package from the Heki company holds eight spruces 17 cm tall. Eight pieces are a different job from a group of three trees: continuous growth can be built from them, a backdrop behind the main scene or a forested slope that closes a scene off from behind. The trees are supplied finished, so assembly and covering with foliage are done away with and building the growth is the work of one evening.
A height of 17 cm corresponds in 1:35 scale to a tree just under 6 m tall, in 1:72 scale to roughly 12 m and on a model railroad in 1:87 scale to close to 15 m. In the large scale, then, this is a younger tree or growth at the edge of a wood; in the small scales, an adult spruce.
Inside growth, stand the trees close together, even so that the crowns touch; the eye cannot see inside anyway and the density looks convincing. At the edge, thin the wood out and fill it in with low bushes and tufts of grass, otherwise the growth ends in a sharp edge like a hedge. Make the spacing irregular, turn the trees different ways and keep the nicest pieces for the front. Seat every tree in a drilled hole and cover the base of the trunk with fallen leaves or static grass.
The package suits anywhere more trees are needed at once: dioramas with equipment as well as layouts. If you keep a few pieces aside, you can later fill a place in the scene that has stayed empty. The base, the glue and scenic material are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
