Hawker Hurricanes Mk.I Around the World is a sheet of decals in 1:72 scale from the Turkish brand Tiger Head Models. A set of markings for models of the early version of the Hurricane, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale devoted to the earliest production version of the Hawker Hurricane fighter and to its users in various corners of the world. The product is an accessory to a kit — it contains decals only, no plastic and no resin parts. Behind the Tiger Head Models brand stands a Turkish maker of decal sheets and resin accessories. The particular make-up of the markings is given in the manufacturer's data.
The Hurricane was the first British monoplane with retractable landing gear and heavy machine gun armament to reach the squadrons. In design it came from an older school: a tubular truss fuselage covered with fabric and, in the first production batches, a wooden fixed-pitch propeller and a fabric-covered wing as well. It was precisely this conservative construction that made the Hurricane a tough machine, easy to repair in the field. The Mk.I version was the most widespread in the first years of the war, and both before and during it the type entered the armament of a number of countries outside Britain, so it appeared in conspicuously varied camouflage and insignia.
On early Hurricanes the fabric covering shows as a fine sag between the ribs — when painting you help it by leaving the matte finish without sharp transitions and creating the shadow only with a thin wash. A matte and slightly textured surface, though, is the worst possible base for decals, so varnish the places under the insignia with a gloss clear coat first. Settle insignia across the fabric areas with a greater amount of decal softener and press them down with a cotton swab, so that they follow the ribs. Flattening at the end evens the whole surface out.
This is a sheet of decals on its own. The kit, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package.
