1:35 Painting masks for model Ural ( Zvezda 3654 )

What it is for

On a truck, honest work shows at the edges. The cab frame, the surrounds and the areas that are to stay clean can be covered with tape, but cutting it to shape is slow and the result differs from one model to the next. A set of masks cut to a particular kit shortens this part of the build and the edges come out equally sharp on both sides of the model.

What the set contains

This is a masking set for a model of the Ural vehicle in 1:35 scale, prepared for the kit designated Zvezda 3654. How many parts the set contains and which areas it covers are given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions; follow those when seating the masks as well. The model, paints and an airbrush are not included.

Usage tips

Apply the masks before spraying, onto a degreased and dry surface, and press them down in the corners too. Then apply the paint at right angles and in thin coats. Seeping is not caused by thin paint but by a heavy load and by spraying at an angle.

• seat them one area at a time, while you still know which mask goes where
• press the edges down with a blunt toothpick, as a fingernail shifts the mask
• you can seal the edge with a thin coat of the base color
• remove the mask once the paint has dried, not after the finish has fully cured
• remove adhesive residue carefully and only on a dry finish

Who it is for

The set is aimed at builders of trucks in 1:35 scale who want to save time over masking tape and to have sharp transitions between colors. Even a beginner can manage it; it is enough to follow the instructions and not to rush. The model, paints and an airbrush are not included, unless stated otherwise.
