The Lancia Delta S4 is one of the best-known cars of Group B rallying of the mid-1980s. Beneath a body that recalled the production Delta only in shape sat a tube frame, all-wheel drive and a forced-induction four-cylinder in which a supercharger was married to a turbocharger. The supercharger delivered boost from low revs and the turbocharger took over higher up, so the car pulled throughout the range. The outer panels were of composites, and that is exactly why models of the Delta S4 so often work with an imitation of carbon and Kevlar.

Application tips

Decals hold best on a smooth, glossy and degreased surface; a matte coat beneath them will almost always give away the edge of the carrier film. Work one item at a time and settle them with a soft brush, not with a fingernail, and press the edges down carefully so that no air bubble is left underneath. Before you soak the sheet, check in the manufacturer's instructions whether the decals are waterslide, and check there as well on the use of a softener. Once they are completely dry, clear-coat the model: that makes the edges disappear and ties the surface together.
