Replacement windshield wipers for a model of the MBB Bo 105 helicopter in 1:32 scale. It is a typical product of the Quickboost brand, that is a simple resin part installed in exchange for a plastic piece from the kit, with no assembly and no photo-etched parts. Quickboost belongs to the Czech maker Aires.
Wipers are a small thing that an injection mold cannot make thin enough: the arm has to be thickened so that the mold fills, and the result then looks like a twig on the glazing. On a helicopter with a large area of glazing the viewer's eye ends up exactly there, because the cabin is what characterizes the Bo 105. A thinner and more sharply drawn part therefore changes the look of a model more than its small size would suggest, and in 1:32 scale the difference is especially clear.
The MBB Bo 105 is a German light twin-engine helicopter whose design peculiarity is a rigid hingeless rotor system that gave the machine exceptional agility. It was used in police service, in air ambulance service, in civil operation and in army roles, and its glazed cabin with large windshields is one of its most recognizable features.
The parts are small, so work with tweezers over a mat and cut the casting block away with a sharp knife or a saw. Wash them in soapy water, so that the paint holds on them. Paint the wipers off the model, on a wire or a stick, and glue them only at the very end, once the glazing is finished and the masks are off. Use a minimum of super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick; too much glue could fog the clear part. Check that the two arms are parallel from the front while the glue has not set.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as resin castings for modifying a model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
