An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet MiG-3 fighter in the large 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The large format lets the fine engraved surface detail and the well worked out cockpit come into their own. Besides the plastic parts, the package contains clear parts for the glazing and photo-etched metal. The control surfaces can be modeled as movable thanks to a system of metal pins and hinges.
The MiG-3 was a Soviet single-seat fighter intended above all for combat at great altitudes. It was powered by a liquid-cooled V12 Mikulin AM-35A, thanks to which the aircraft was among the fastest Soviet machines of the beginning of the war at higher levels. At low and medium altitudes, however, where most of the fighting on the Eastern Front took place, it was less agile and more lightly armed than later types. It was used from 1941, among other things in the air defense of rear areas.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). In the large 1:32 scale it pays to finish and paint the cockpit first and only then to close the fuselage. Mask the glazing, so that the frames are clean. Apply a primer before painting, lay the paints on with an airbrush in thin coats and pick the panel lines out with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
