Kugelblende for the Tiger II in 1:35 — the ball mount for the hull machine gun, for builds of the heavy tank, from the Royal Model workshop.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kugelblende, the ball mount for the hull machine gun, is one of the most closely watched places on the front armor plate. Royal Model handles it as a separate accessory for builds of the Tiger II heavy tank in 1:35 scale.
It is a cast spherical segment set into an opening in the front armor, in which the barrel of the machine gun operated by the radio operator moves. The solution had two advantages at once: the armor stayed thick enough at the point of the opening and the weapon still kept a decent range of movement in azimuth and elevation. The Tiger II, nicknamed Königstiger among the soldiers, carried this mount in a steeply sloped front plate about one hundred and fifty millimeters thick. The heavy vehicle with an 88 mm gun and an exceptionally long barrel entered production in 1944 and took part in the fighting in Normandy, in the Ardennes and on the Eastern Front.
The opening in the plastic hull tends to be smaller or chamfered differently than it should be: widen it gradually with a round file and keep trying the fit. Leave the spherical segment movable until the finish is done, as it is easier to get a brush inside. At the end it pays to suggest sooting around the muzzle and paint wear on the protruding edges.
You will not find the tank or glue in this package.
