Tools and their brackets for the German Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks in 1:35 scale, in resin and photo-etched sheet, replace the coarse shapes molded onto the hull.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set combines cast resin with photo-etched sheet. It replaces the pioneer tools that an injection mold can only suggest as a low relief fused to the side of the hull. Once they are swapped, the shovel and the axe stand on their own and the surface of the armor and its welds can be seen beneath them.
The Panzer III was the main offensive type of the Wehrmacht at the start of the war, whereas the Panzer IV was created as a support carrier for a short howitzer. The development of the roles of the two machines then reversed: the III withdrew into command and reconnaissance roles, while the IV received a long gun barrel and stayed in production until the end of the war. They shared a number of chassis elements, many components could be made on the same lines, and the settled arrangement of the pioneer tools along the sides and at the rear of the hull matched on both as well.
Bend the photo-etched sheet in a bending tool or between two razor blades, so that the edge is sharp and straight. A short bath in degreaser will take the release agent residue off. Attach the straps and clips with thin cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, and wipe any excess away at once. Wooden handles stand out with an oil glaze over a light base, while the metal parts will take a graphite sheen and a light rust wash into the hollows. Patience pays off above all on the clips, which are glued on only after the tool is seated.
