An add-on set of the transmission of the Tiger I tank in 1:35 scale. Intended for models with an open front part of the hull and for workshop scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Tiger I had its engine at the rear but its drive sprockets at the front, so the power had to pass along the whole length of the hull to the transmission seated in the front part of the fighting compartment. It was a complex and massive assembly that could not be taken out of the tank except by removing the front cover of the hull. On a finished machine, then, nobody sees it; it shows only on a dismantled tank.
The set brings the transmission as a separate accessory in 1:35 scale. It comes in useful on models where the front part of the hull is open, in workshop scenes with the assembly removed, or as a separate display unit beside a finished model.
First check dry how much room is left in the hull, and only then cut into the plastic of the kit. Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder. Choose the glue according to the material: anything that is not polystyrene holds with cyanoacrylate glue. Wash and degrease before painting. The assembly looks credible in a lighter interior shade, with a darker washed-out shade in the recesses and the edges lightly brought out. Add the traces of oil and rubbing sparingly and only where they would really reach.
The set is for modelers who are building a machine under construction or under repair and want to show what is normally hidden under the armor as well. The package contains only the add-on set; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
