The set brings together the enlisted men and the command of the American fleet of the Second World War period. The figures are cast by the Italian firm Royal Model in hard resin. The result will complete a deck scene or a harbor diorama in 1:35, or serve as a standalone still life on a base.
US Navy enlisted men wore a working uniform with the characteristic low cap, whereas an officer was told by a shirt with a tie, a jacket and a peaked cap with a badge. That contrast is valuable for a diorama, because it shows the hierarchy of a scene at first glance: who works and who commands. American ships served in every ocean, so the scene can be set in the Pacific or off the European coast.
Naval white cloth is never painted in pure white. Take a broken, slightly grayed shade and leave pure white only for the highest points of the folds. The dark blue jacket, by contrast, needs brightening, otherwise it sinks into shadow. The metal buttons and badges are done with a fine brush at the very end, when the rest of the figure is finished and there is no risk of smudging.
The set contains the castings themselves, not finished figures. Paints, glue and the base of the scene are obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.
