The set 1:35 Wheels Staghound brings cast replacement wheels for the T17E1 armored car of the kind British and Allied units used during the war.
Responsibility details are not available.
Massive tires with a coarse off-road tread are part of what makes an armored car recognizable at first glance. The casting from the Royal Model brand renders them with a crisp rim, a legible tread and relief on the sidewall, that is with the details that split plastic usually does not hold. The armored car is bought separately.
The Staghound was built in American plants, but the American army in the end did not take it on, as the whole production went to Britain and to the units of the Commonwealth. The vehicle was unusually large for an armored car, it was powered by two gasoline engines and in its rotating turret it carried a 37 mm gun. It proved itself in Italy and in northwestern Europe, where among others the Poles, the Canadians and the New Zealanders used it, and in a number of armies it remained in service long after the war.
Degreasing the parts is the first step, because residue of release agent prevents the paint from adhering. Next comes separating them from the casting block and leveling the contact patch so that the vehicle stands straight on all its wheels; try it dry on a flat board. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Paint the tires separately from the wheels; on rubber a dark gray shade works better than pure black, because at this scale black looks flat.
