A set of diorama accessories from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel in 1:35 scale. It contains wicker baskets of the larger kind, that is objects that were for centuries the basic carrying container in the country as well as in town. In a diorama they fill two roles at once: they take up empty space and at the same time give the scene the civil, everyday dimension that equipment alone does not have.
Wicker baskets were woven from willow or hazel and used for carrying food, coal, laundry and ammunition. Their advantages were low weight, flexibility and easy repair. In wartime photographs they turn up with supply convoys, at railway stations, in farmyards and on the beds of vehicles, where they served as improvised storage.
Paint the baskets with a darker base so that the color reaches into the depth of the weave. Then bring only the raised areas out with a lighter ocher shade on a dry brush; it is exactly that contrast that turns a casting into wickerwork. Finally work in a dark wash and fine pigments. If you put a basket into mud, dirty mainly the bottom and the lower third and leave the upper rim light.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
