Injection-molded plastic kit of the German destroyer Z-17 Diether von Roeder in 1:350 scale from Zvezda. The model captures the slender hull, the 127 mm guns and the torpedo tubes of this prewar design, and a display stand goes with it. Take the exact contents from the enclosed instructions.
Z-17 Diether von Roeder was the lead ship of the German Type 1936 destroyer class. It was a fast, heavily armed vessel carrying five 127 mm guns and torpedoes. The ship was sunk in April 1940 during the Second Battle of Narvik, fighting British destroyers and the battleship Warspite. The Type 1936 destroyers were among the most powerful German units of this category.
Seat the hull straight on the stand supplied and leave the turrets and the torpedo tubes free to move until the paint has dried. Glue with liquid cement for plastic and clean up the fine edges and the masts; the railings can be added with photo-etched sets sold separately. For a period look, German naval gray with restrained washes, the deck picked out and gentle weathering at the waterline all work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
