The British methyl bromide fire extinguisher (1:48) is a resin modeling accessory from the Firma49 brand for dressing dioramas and equipment of the Second World War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin (3D printed) accessory in 1:48 scale is not a vehicle kit but a part in its own right for dressing dioramas, armored vehicles or aircraft models. It faithfully captures the period British fire extinguisher filled with methyl bromide from the Second World War. The fine 3D print ensures crisp edges and legible detail of the body and the operating mechanism.
Methyl bromide (bromomethane) served in the British Army as an extinguishing agent from the interwar years until roughly the 1950s. It was used in hand-held and in built-in extinguishers of tanks, armored vehicles and aircraft, because it suppressed fuel fires effectively. It was later replaced because of its high toxicity, which makes it a typical feature of the equipment of its day.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and separate them gently from the support blocks. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and protect your airways while sanding. We recommend applying a filler (primer) and painting with an airbrush; the metal body comes out well once the edges are picked out and a wash is run into the recesses.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin part. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
