HäT 8046 Alexander's Thracians is a 1:72 set with forty-eight figures of the allied infantry of the Macedonian army.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale with forty-eight figures of Thracian warriors who served in the Macedonian army. It belongs to the range devoted to Alexander's armies and complements both the phalanx and the light infantry in the same scale. It is supplied unpainted.
Thrace was the region north of Macedonia whose inhabitants had a reputation as hard and hard-to-control fighters. Philip II subdued them and his son then took them on campaign as allied infantry; they fought in a loose formation, used a curved weapon called the romphaia which they held in both hands, and carried a light crescent-shaped shield. The equipment was plain and varied, with woolen cloaks and caps of fox fur that set the Thracians apart from the rest of the army at a glance.
Color suits the Thracians: patterned woolen cloaks are documented, and in a small scale two strokes are enough to suggest stripes. Do the fur cap with a dark base and a dry brush in a lighter tone on the edges. The curved weapons are thin, so separate them with a sharp knife. Paint the shields separately, pattern and all, while you still have them loose in your hand.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
