Responsibility details are not available.
A mounted set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale with twelve riders in four poses and horses in two poses. It belongs to the range devoted to the Punic wars, in which the Numidian horsemen served first Carthage and later Rome. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled, with the rider seated separately.
The Numidians were North African horsemen who counted as the best light cavalry of their day. They rode without a saddle and without a bridle, controlled their horses with the knee and the voice, and carried only a bundle of javelins and a small shield. This way of fighting gave them a speed an armored horseman could not match: they rode up, threw their javelins and withdrew before the enemy could turn. At Cannae they decided the battle by keeping the Roman cavalry out of the main engagement, and when they later changed to the Roman side it turned against Carthage.
Paint the horses before you seat the riders. The Numidians wore plain white or undyed clothing, so use a light gray base and white only on the highest surfaces; make the skin darker and contrasting by comparison. The javelins are thin, so separate them with a sharp knife. Leave the horses in natural shades without harness, as it is precisely the absence of harness that is characteristic of this subject.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
