The brown shade Woodgrain from the Model Color range by Vallejo, mixed to imitate wood. A water-thinnable acrylic paint.
Responsibility details are not available.
The shade named after the grain of wood is a medium brown with a warm cast. It is aimed at everything that should look like wood on a model: the stocks and forends of weapons, tool handles, crates and barrels, the planks of a cargo bed and a deck, wooden propellers and interior furniture. It also serves well as a base under darker glazes and as the middle tone from which the grain is then built up.
An area in a single brown tone does not read as wood on its own; it lacks the grain. The proven procedure has three steps: first an overall base in this shade, then, once dry, thin irregular lines in a darker brown or a brown glaze drawn in one direction along the grain, and finally a light lightening of the edges and raised places. Do not make the lines regular or the same length, as wood is irregular. On small parts a fine brush is enough, while on larger areas a dry brush helps.
The paint belongs to the Model Color range by Vallejo; it is acrylic and is thinned with water or with the thinner intended for this range. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles. Apply it in thin coats, because a heavy coat floods fine relief and dries less well. The range is built above all for work with a brush; for spraying, thin the paint more and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Thinner, brushes and other materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
