Eight grass strips from the German maker HEKI, one hundred millimeters long, with growth ten millimeters high, in a combined yellow-red finish. The mixed coloring matches what parched growth actually looks like: it does not have a single tone but runs from yellow through rust to red, depending on the species of grass and on how long it has been dry. A strip with two tones therefore saves the work of combining two boxes.

How to work with the strips

The strips are not self-adhesive; they are fixed with modeling glue, ideally a flock adhesive or PVA glue. Apply a thin line of glue and lay the strip into it, shortening it with scissors if needed. Fray the ends slightly with your fingers and keep the joints between pieces irregular. Do not lay a colored strip along the whole length of an area, but in sections with green grass inserted between them, otherwise the scene looks dead and the color loses its effect.
