Six birches 8 cm tall in a stick-in version, that is trees intended to be planted directly in the surface. These are finished accessories from the Heki range: nothing is built, and after unpacking they go straight into a scene.
In nature a birch stands out for its light bark and its thin, open crown, which can be seen through. It grows in groups at the edges of woods, on embankments, by watercourses and in places that are only just growing over, so on a scene it suits anywhere the landscape is meant to look neglected rather than tended. Eight centimeters corresponds in 1:87 scale to a tree roughly 7 meters tall, in 1:72 scale to about 5.8 meters and in 1:35 scale to approximately 2.8 meters.
Plant birches in twos and threes rather than singly, the way they grow in reality, and leave each one leaning a little differently. In a soft surface the trunk is pushed in; in a solid board drill a hole to match the diameter of the trunk and secure the joint with a drop of glue. Add grass or granulate around the trunks so that the tree grows out of the scene and the joint is not visible. Because the crown is see-through, mind what is behind it: a birch in front of a smooth wall looks empty, while in front of a dark wood it stands out.
For builders of dioramas and layouts who need light, open greenery as a counterweight to dense conifers, and for gaming boards with temperate landscape. The base, the terrain, the scatter, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
