Supplementary chimneys in 1:35 scale extend the range of plaster building elements from the Royal Model brand with further shapes for diorama backdrops.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second number of this subrange offers shapes different from the first set, so the two can be combined and the same thing does not then stand twice in one street. The material is plaster again and the use is the same: completing roofs, gables and masonry in 1:35 scale.
The shape of a chimney gives away more than it seems. A low, wide body with several flues belonged to a house with more than one stove, while a slim, tall chimney belonged to a kitchen with an open hearth. In Western Europe tops with a cover slab against the rain were built, while elsewhere a plain termination was enough. When you set two different types side by side in a backdrop, the built-up area gains age and layers, because a real street never came into being all at once.
Dust the plaster off with a soft brush before painting, otherwise patches appear under the paint. Anyone who wants a chimney in ruins must not cut it with a saw: lay a blade on it and let the material break instead, because an irregular fracture face looks better than a straight cut. Then bring out the exposed bricks at the break with a lighter tone and complete the edge with grit crushed from the offcuts of the casting, which you glue both on the roof and below it. Finally bed the finished chimney into the rubble so that its bottom edge nowhere forms a visible line.
