A conversion set is not an accessory that is simply glued on top. Some of the plastic parts are cut away and replaced with castings, so the result is a vehicle in a form that the kit in question does not offer out of the box. The reward is a type that does not usually stand on a show table in three examples side by side.
The Italian medium tank was built in several successive batches, and between the first and the last examples a number of differences can be seen in the external equipment, in the arrangement of the hull and in small details around the powerplant. The development then continued smoothly to the following type, which received a stronger engine and differently shaped details. That is exactly why with Italian equipment it pays to choose a particular vehicle from a photograph first and only then build, otherwise a combination that never existed easily comes about.
Before you reach for the saw, compare the castings with the plastic parts and mark in pencil where the cut will run. Measure twice, cut once, because plastic does not come back. Level the mating surfaces on sandpaper laid on glass and glue the joint with cyanoacrylate glue. Putty will fill smaller gaps, but it is easier not to let them appear in the first place.
