Packs, bread bags, pouches, helmets and harness are offered by this set from the Italian manufacturer Royal Model in 1:35 scale. The parts came about as a combination of castings and etched sheet and serve to complete figures or to fill a vehicle with a load.

A soldier's equipment hung on a leather belt and shoulder straps: ammunition pouches at the front, a bread bag and a canteen at the back, plus a gas mask in a cylindrical case, a mess tin and a tent section. All told it came to tens of kilograms. The individual items are available separately, so you can put the kit together according to the situation you want to capture: a march, the defense of a trench or rest behind the line.

Practical advice

First offer the parts up to the figure dry and sand the seating surfaces to the shape of the body. Where a strap is to pass, drill a hole and add a strip from adhesive foil. Leather looks credible when a brown base is drawn over with a dark enamel shade and the edges are polished. The canvas parts will take sandy tones and fine soiling. Suggest the metal buckles with a dry brush and a drop of silver.
