Stowage and equipment for the M3A3 Stuart light tank in 1:35 from the Royal Model workshop brings resin castings of bags, tarpaulins and crates for a livelier rendering of the car.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set cast in polyurethane resin contains the objects crews carried on the armor: rolled tarpaulins, sleeping bags, crates, jerrycans, packs and other small items. None of that is in the base kit, and yet it is precisely the stowage that sets a museum exhibit apart from a car in service.
The M3A3 was the closing and most pronounced modification of the M3 light tank. It was given an all-welded hull with sloped hull sides, a greater fuel supply and a roomier turret with a radio box at the rear; the machine guns in the sponsons, which nobody used properly anyway, disappeared. The armament consisted of a 37 mm gun, by 1944 already weak against tanks, so the car found its place mainly in reconnaissance and as an escort for infantry. The British listed it under a name of their own, the Stuart V, and a number of examples served out their time with further Allied armies.
First look at period photographs, because things were not lashed on at random but where they did not get in the way of firing and the view. Wash the castings, cut the casting remains off and try them dry before gluing. Let the equipment differ from the car in color: faded canvas and leather beside olive lacquer will give a model depth.
The package does not contain the tank itself or coating materials.
