Exhaust mufflers for the M18 Hellcat tank destroyer in 1:35 scale of Royal Model resin replace the simplified plastic parts at the rear of the car.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small but conspicuous set makes the rear of the tank destroyer more accurate: the collector pipe, the pair of mufflers, the tail pipes and the brackets. On the real car the exhausts tend to be sooty and rusted, so they are among the first places the eye of a viewer or a competition judge looks at.
The Americans built the M18 Hellcat around the idea that a tank destroyer should not win a duel with armor but with speed and fire from a favorable position. A light welded hull, an open turret with a 76 mm gun and a radial engine with an automatic transmission gave the car over eighty kilometers an hour on the road, more than any other tracked armored vehicle of the time. The armor was thin, though, and the crew took on considerable risk in the open turret. The car proved itself in the Ardennes, where units armed with Hellcats held key road junctions and were able to move quickly between threatened sectors.
First wash off the mold release agent, otherwise the paint will not take. Cut the sprue gates off with a saw and level the surfaces carefully. For a rusted surface, pigments applied on a matte base and lightly fixed suit well; a smooth gloss would look out of place on an exhaust.
The base kit and paints are not enclosed.
