M26 Dragon Wagon – a detailing set, part 2, 1:35 scale from Royal Model follows on from the basic set from the same brand and aims at the American armored tractor with its semi-trailer. The combination is bought separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
The follow-up part of the Royal Model detail set for the American forty-ton tank transporter. While the basic set deals with the main parts of the combination, this one carries on where the first leaves off and completes further areas of both the tractor and the semi-trailer. The plastic combination the set is fitted to is not in the package.
The nickname Dragon Wagon was carried by a pair made up of the armored M26 tractor in a 6x6 layout and the M15 lowboy semi-trailer. It came about because the American army needed to tow and transport heavy tanks straight from the battlefield, not only from collection points in the rear. The enclosed armored cab protected the crew even when working under fire, and powerful winches could haul out even a machine that could not move. The combination reached Europe in 1944 and pulled damaged Shermans back from the front line. Toward the end of the war a lightened unarmored variant joined it.
The combination is long and intricate, so plan the order of the work in advance: some of the accessories are easier to fit while the assemblies are still apart. Separate the fine parts with a sharp knife on a mat, so that they do not jump away, and fix the joints with cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting, degrease the whole thing and unify it with a primer.
It is sold as a separate accessory without the tractor, the semi-trailer, paints and glue.
