U-Boot IX - exterior set, part I 1:72 (CMK)

This resin detail set is NOT a submarine model but an accessory for a plastic kit of the German Type IX submarine in 1:72 scale. The first part of the exterior series brings finer external items for the hull and the conning tower - details that give the surface of the submarine a realistic look and replace the coarser parts of the base kit. The set combines cast resin, in places with photo-etched sheet. The accessory is intended for Revell kits.

What the set is for

It refines the exterior of a model in the places most on show. It follows on well from the other exterior and interior sets of the same series, so a model can be detailed comprehensively.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut the casting blocks off carefully and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Once a primer has been sprayed on, accent the surface with a wash and light weathering to match the period of service you choose.
