Twenty finished conifers in a cooler gray-green tone. Compared with the taller set in the same line these are smaller trees, with twice as many in the box, so they can be used over a wider area. They are supplied foliated and you only need to seat them in the terrain.
Color matters as much as shape in a model landscape. A cold tone in the depth of a scene pushes things away visually, because distant stands really do look bluish. That is exactly why small trees in this color are best planted toward the back, while warmer green belongs at the front. This creates an impression of distance that otherwise can only be produced by laborious shading.
The box is aimed at modelers who build a forest in layers and want depth of color, as well as at layout builders in the smaller gauges, where this height corresponds to mature trees. The core of each small tree is an injection-molded plastic armature with hand-bent branches; production takes place in Germany, so individual pieces differ slightly in shape. They also suit a winter scene: a cold tone with a white dusting holds together better than deep summer green, on which snow looks like a foreign element. Apply the dusting with a dry brush from above, that is, the way snow really falls on branches.
