A set of diorama accessories from the Tiger Head Models brand in 1:72 scale. According to the name it contains twelve pieces, three different types with four of each. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a kit, but a prop with which the space around an aircraft, a vehicle or a building is filled, and thanks to which a scene comes to life.
For a builder of dioramas a drum is probably the most universal prop of all. It turns up at an airfield by a refueling point, in a workshop, at a railroad station, in an ammunition store and as an improvised table or barricade. Three different types in one set are more practical in this respect than twelve identical pieces, because in a real setting it was never only uniform containers that stood next to one another. A group of different drums also tells the reader of a scene what is going on in it: a pile of crates and full barrels by a vehicle looks like a supply point, while an overturned and holed drum by a wreck looks like a trace of an attack. In 1:72 scale these are not big parts, so they suit even places where there is no room left for another figure.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Spray the metal barrels with primer and a base color first, then let them go through a patina: a thin dark glaze into the ribs, careful stippling of rust with a piece of sponge and a dry brush with light metal across the edges and the hoops. Wooden drums, by contrast, are built up from a light brown tone to darker glazes and at the end you bring out the grain. The effect of spilled oil is made with a drop of gloss varnish with a little black. Glue the drums to the base with super glue and work the lower edge in with pigment, so that they do not look as if they are floating.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a base or other elements of a scene. Glue, paints and figures are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
