Four trees in autumn coloring, each 11 cm tall. An autumn version means that the crowns are not green: they carry tones which fix the season in a scene at once, without your having to reach for paint. These are finished trees from the Heki range, which are not assembled or finished off.
A colored tree is a strong element in a scene, so do not combine it with markedly green summer grass. Carry the autumn through the whole scene: grass toward ocher, fallen leaves under the crowns, damp soil on the track. Eleven centimeters corresponds in 1:87 scale to a tree roughly 9.6 meters tall, in 1:72 scale to about 7.9 meters and in 1:35 scale to approximately 3.9 meters. In the larger scale, then, this is a smaller tree by a house; on a layout, a mature specimen by the line.
Do not plant four trees of the same height in a row. Set them in an irregular group, lean one of them slightly and turn the denser side of the crown toward the viewer. In soft terrain the trunk is pushed in; in a solid base drill a hole to match the diameter of the trunk and secure the joint with a drop of glue. Scatter a little granulate in the color of the crown under the trees; fallen leaves give the autumn away before the viewer even notices the tree itself.
